Control your Focusrite Scarlett Solo volume with your Mac's media keys and custom shortcuts.
Your Mac's volume up, volume down, and mute keys directly control your Focusrite instead of the built-in speakers.
A sleek floating HUD replaces the macOS volume popup, showing your Focusrite's actual dB level with an overgain indicator.
50% slider position equals -16 dB — matching how your ears actually perceive loudness changes for natural-feeling control.
Assign any keyboard shortcut to volume up, volume down, mute, and direct monitor toggle.
Instant mute toggle and direct monitor control without opening Focusrite Control 2.
Activates only when a Focusrite Scarlett is the default output device. Media keys pass through to macOS otherwise.
Free and open source. Requires macOS 15+ and Focusrite Control 2.
brew tap enum-solutions-inc/focusrite-volume-control
brew install --cask focusrite-volume-control
The app requires Accessibility and Automation permissions — a setup wizard will guide you on first launch.
Download and install Focusrite Control 2 if you haven't already. This app drives FC2 to control your volume.
Via Homebrew: brew tap enum-solutions-inc/focusrite-volume-control && brew install --cask focusrite-volume-control
Or download the DMG and drag to Applications.
The setup wizard will prompt you. This lets the app intercept your volume keys. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility and enable the app.
The app will ask to control System Events and Focusrite Control 2. Click Allow when prompted. This lets it read and set volume levels.
That's it! Your Mac's volume keys now control your Focusrite. Customize shortcuts and preferences from the menu bar icon.
